The third option is mobile calling, which allows you to link your speaker with your mobile carrier plan. Again, calls cannot be received and this option is only available with selected carriers in the US and Australia . Google-supported calling allows you to make audio calls to mobile, landline, and business phone numbers at no additional cost. Hands-free calling on Google Home is quite a bit different. Effectively, your Google Home becomes a VoIP speakerphone that can call your Google Contacts and businesses. It also doesn't require the people you are calling to have a Google Home speaker or even a Google account. You can call effectively anyone with a phone number, except emergency numbers. The calling feature turns your Google Home into a landline of sorts, letting you ask Google to call anyone who is in your contacts, as well as local businesses. The only thing Home can't call -- at least not yet -- is an emergency service like 911.
Make your phone contacts available
To end a call, you can say, "OK, Google, hang up," or tap the top of the Google Home speaker. Google Home will place your call over the Wi-Fi connection. While ringing or in call, the light ring on Google Home will be a spinning pale blue.
Make sure the option to save contacts from signed-in devices is selected. In addition, you have the option to say “Hey Google,” “Stop,” “Disconnect,” or “End call.” You will hear an end-call tone if the person you are calling hangs up on you. According to Android Police, the feature is only supposed to be available in the US, but if your phone’s language settings are set to use “English ,” you might still be able to access it. The person on the other end will still hear you say Hey Google, so don't expect to fly totally under the radar with this approach, but you will get some privacy during the actual request. If you're on a video call when you use this feature, the call will be muted but the camera feed will continue. Repeat steps 7 and 8 for each speaker or hub you want to make calls from.
Google-supported calling
Google Home Nest is a small smart speaker powered by Google Assistant that can play music, create calendar entries, set alarms, and get weather and traffic reports, among other things. In the ” General settings section,” choose the “Settings” option. Clearly, Google has a long way to go for Google Home speakers to feel well-integrated with Duo, but the foundation is definitely there for them to build something great. You can call any landline or mobile number in the US or Canada for free.
This option allows you to set up a group of contacts on your Google Nest speakers and displays so your contacts have quick access to make calls. These contacts show on displays and can be used by anyone who has access to the device. However, it's worth noting that the feature does only work in English and the US. The person who set up the home in the Google Home app also has to be the one to set up household contacts. Google’s smart speaker can now pull double duty as a phone for voice calls.
Making Calls with Google Home or Google Home Mini
You can tell Google Home to display the phone number you’ve got tied to either Google Voice or Project Fi by going to the Assistant settings in your Google Home smartphone app for Android or iOS. You may also inquire about a local business and just say, “Call them,” if you like. You may skip this step if you performed it during the initial setup of your Google Home or Google Home Mini; otherwise, continue reading. Hands-free Calling for Google Home and Nest speakers is available in the US and Canada only. You can’t call one Google Home device from another, nor can you call emergency numbers.
