I've been looking for an easy to use app to catalog my personal library, and CLZ Books is absolutely fantastic! It's better than the classic card catalogs at the libraries. And you won't get hangnails sifting through the cards. I love it so much, I suggested CLZ DVD to my boyfriend and now he uses it to catalog his collection, and my brother uses CLZ Comics for, you guessed it, his collection.
There are several branches, so displaying these in a mega menu from the top nav is a smart move to provide easiest access to the right information. Dropdown nav helps create a clean and simple look and makes information easy to find. Comprehensive event calendar search with filters for date, location, event type, program name, and type of audience. Clean design with plenty of white space to make it easy to read.

Even if you’re working on a tight budget, or with a small space, you’ll be able to pull design ideas from these stunning home library ideas and trends from 2019 to use in your own space. Other users may have posted photos of the library and you can usually find the library’s official website link there as well. Again, it’s a lame pick, but it’s still a good one. Great use of brand consistency throughout the site. The search is prominent across the tops of the homepage and large buttons with icons help users move quickly to popular areas of the site. While most good websites are responsive these days, we particularly liked this mobile experience that was equally successful on all devices. Bright and colorful which makes for an inviting site. Many libraries use color to appeal to many audiences, which makes the online experience more inviting and accessible.
The app has a concept of “15-minute books,” which, as the name suggests, will help you to complete a book in just 15 minutes by presenting a TL;DR version. With over 10 million downloads, FBReader is one of the most popular Android and iOS apps for reading ebooks. The app has a huge library of completely free, yes, you heard that right, completely free ebooks that you can download and read on the go. Many of these apps are geared toward cataloging books in the English language, but you should still be able to use most of them to catalog books in other languages as well. So when you’re wondering how to make library systems that work well, I don’t really recommend Goodreads simply because it’s a bit messier than other solutions on this list. I do still really like Goodreads as a method to track your reading, but when it comes to home library tracking it just doesn’t quite stack up as well as other options on the market.

All the memory is stored on the app so I do not have to worry about memory space. I have almost 800 books and this app has made it easier for me to know what I have, keep track of where the book is and adding new books is easy. I highly recommend this app to anyone who has or is planning to build their home library. Adobe Premiere Rush was Adobe’s big release for 2019. It’s a video editor and it seems to be the one Adobe plans on improving for the foreseeable future. The app boasts a near-professional experience with full video and audio support along with a multi-track timeline, various templates for things, and even some niche tools.
Additionally, three events are offered right at the top of the homepage with 3 featured events. The simplicity makes it clear for users to see which events might be most popular to attend. The “Explore Local History” collection on the homepage. It allows users an easy way to find out information that otherwise could be challenging to access. The Programs & Events drop down menu lets the user search for all events, events for children, teens, and adults, view the program brochure, or suggest a program. Once you make a selection, you are taken to a weekly calendar that shows you all of the events happening that week.

If you check “Publish Library”, then your library is shareable with the public…but if you choose to leave it unchecked, then your library is totally private and only viewable by you. So that would be the one I highly recommend checking out in your case. When talking about the best book library apps, we’d be remiss not to mention Goodreads.

It doesn’t have everything the desktop version of Premiere Pro has, but we expect the feature set to expand over time and for Adobe to fix most of the bugs. Hoopla Digital is one of the most powerful library apps on Android. It boasts a library of over one million titles ranging from movies to books. The app lets you access all of it for free and without advertising. The only thing you need is an actual, physical library card in order to register. Some other features include offline support, 24/7 access, and it’ll sync your progress if you need to switch devices.
Libby, an app by OverDrive, is very similar to Hoopla Digital but seems to focus primarily on books. It has millions of regular e-books as well as audiobooks. You simply “borrow” them with your library card and you have full access. Some of the app’s other features include the ability to send books to your Kindle and Android Auto support — and the app will sync your progress when you switch devices. Libraries are great, and they're not just for books anymore. This app stands out among the others in that your digital book collection is actually displayed on shelves!
The app was developed by one man, and is now an open source project, so if coding is your thing you can really personalize this app and tailor-make it to fit your collections. If you have a large collection, I wouldn’t recommend this app as there doesn’t seem to be a known limit for the amount of books LibraryThing can store. However, if you have a small collection, then this simple app will work great for you! If you’re using LibraryThing, check out Tiny Cat, which is also made for small libraries and can be linked to your LibraryThing account.
